Women 'braver than men when it comes to property'

A new report has suggested that women are less concerned about falling house prices than men.

The research from Fool.co.uk showed that 81 per cent of women would still consider buying a home during a period of house price falls.

This compared to 30 per cent of men who revealed that they would be too nervous to make a purchase at the moment.

Interestingly, over 80 per cent of people from Scotland and Wales revealed that they believe market conditions are irrelevant when it comes to buying a home.

"Nobody wants to lose money, especially when they are buying something as important and expensive as a house," David Kuo, head of personal finance at the website, commented.

"But trying to predict the bottom of the property market is a mug's game. It is more important to decide if the house you want to buy is right for you, and if you can comfortably afford to meet the mortgage repayments."

Recently, the Council of Mortgage Lenders showed that the Scottish property market is faring better than the rest of the UK.
