Real Spain still reins
As one of the top investment property destinations for British buyers abroad, certain areas of Spain are "oversaturated", but not all, according to an industry expert.
The Spanish Property Owners Guild (SPOG) has commented that the "real" Spain still exists for investors if they are prepared to look inland.
Paul Bradley, spokesperson for the Spanish Property Owners Guild (SPOG), said: "Real Spain still exists; it is only the coastal areas that have become oversaturated. Ten miles inland and it is still how it has always been."
Mr Bradley cited La Vinuela as an example of a traditional Spanish area. The valley is 20 miles east of Malaga on the Costa del Sol and has "dramatic mountainous landscapes, rolling hills, olive trees and peasants farming."
Spain's popularity is waning, according to a recent survey from Jet-to-Let Magazine, which stated that it had dropped from second to third place in buyers' rankings of top destinations for 2008.
