Londoners 'least likely to have home contents cover'
Despite the significant value of household possessions, many consumers in the UK do not consider contents cover to be a necessity.
That is according to a recent survey conducted by Sainsbury's Home Insurance, which discovered that as many as 4.7 million British homeowners are putting their possessions at risk by not taking out home contents insurance.
Those most likely to be without contents cover are consumers living in London, while around one in ten consumers in both the south-east and West Midlands has failed to insure their valuable possessions.
By contrast, homeowners in Yorkshire and Humberside are far more prepared in this regard, with only three per cent of people being without contents insurance.
Neil Laird, Sainsbury's Home Insurance manager, said that the number of people without contents cover was "remarkable", asserting that "home insurance does not have to be expensive".
Confused.com recently claimed that, despite it not being a legal requirement, people should consider home contents insurance an "absolute necessity".
