The World’s Most Overpriced Home Audio Systems

We all have hobbies and passions that we continually pledge our money towards to see it through to the end and to make our collections complete. This may seem strange, constantly spending your money on one thing such as stamps or model aeroplanes but then is it really any different to splashing out a large sum of money for an ipad or a designer handbag every once in a while? Whatever the hobby and whatever the cost of keeping it up for a period of time, whether the amounts are small or out of this world, we as individuals feel as though its worth it for the happiness it brings us day to day and by knowing that we have a goal that can be reached eventually.

But can our hobbies and our passions ever spiral out of control and become too out of hand? When do we say enough is enough or should we? If your passion keeps you happy then why should you ever stop I hear you cry! Well, because of these people’s obsessions we can now bring you the most expensive entertainment systems in the world….

1. £3,8000,740.63 ($6 million)

Jeremy Kipnis, a music engineer, producer and a lover of classical music…well make that extreme lover of classical music as he loves it so much that he has spent an eye popping $6 million to date on his amazing home entertainment system which has become his hobby. I may be the boring one here but I would say that’s a ‘bit pricey’ for providing entertainment in your home! Nevertheless, his collection has to be the best home entertainment system anyone could imagine! Just think there is actually no reason or need for him to ever go to the cinema again or even leave that room for that matter. Amongst the long list of gadgets involved in building this beast is a Playstation 3, Blue Ray player, 16 subwoofers, HD DVD player and 3 dual processors!

However, if you don’t have just under £4 million to splash out on an audio system like old Jeremy here – don’t be phased! You too can own one of the world’s most ridiculously overpriced audio systems you just have to stay committed and be prepared for it to take a while – one speaker at a time!

Here are a few component parts you may want to invest in to build up your own lavish system…..

2. 1,267,359.22 ($2 million)

If you have just over 1.2 million spare in your pocket to splash out this instant then you might want to consider the Transmission Audio Ultimate Speakers to start you off. The system comes with 12 individual speakers it is more like a PA system than a normal sound system for the home. This really does have everything you could possibly want in some speakers just not sure whether you can dock your ipod or mp3 though?!

3. £6333,148.28 ($1 million)

Ok, so there may be a $5 million difference between this and the first system but this is still a lot of dosh to splash out on a set of speakers! Kharma International produce high end audio products which sell worldwide and they are extremely serious about speaker quality and performance. A home owner in Belgium wanted the best home speaker set ever made and I don’t think he was disappointed when he was presented with the Kharma Grand Enigma (even sounds fancy). However, this was the only one made so you will have to come up with your own unique idea.

4. £351,123.15 ($554,500)

The fourth most expensive audio system in the world (as far as I can tell don’t hold me to that) is a design that brings several well known brands together to produce a very expensive steel contraption that looks uber stylish. Basically, this combines an open faced record player with some state of the art components thrown in. From the reviews it seems this is more of a piece you would buy for looks than sound capabilities so be sure you need this in your life before spending the whopping price tag above!

5. £300,000 ($473,493.97)

The Infinite Wisdom Grand was produced by Wisdom – a Nevada based speaker manufacturer – who wanted to produce the best sounding and best loudspeakers on the market. I think they succeeded as standing next to these speakers is louder than standing by the speakers at a heavy metal rock concert! If you could find the room for this set up you would be well on the way to having the world’s most expensive (or just overpriced) home audio sound system.
