The modern and astonishing architectural masterpiece you can see in the photos below was designed by Montreal-based studio Mu Architecture and named Malbaie V Residence – “Le Phare”. The contemporary residential project was completed in 2010. Located in a stunning landscape, in the region of Cap-à-l’Aigle, Charlevoix, Quebec, Canada, this exceptional modern home covers over 2,400 square feet spread over two stories. Boasting exquisite views of the surrounding mountains and St. Lawrence River in the distance, the contemporary residence is part of a fascinating hillside community called Les Terrasses Cap-à-l’Aigle.
Covered with a green roof that acts as an insulating layer and also reduces heat build-up during summer days, the home looks like it has risen from its surroundings only to offer modern comfort to its inhabitants. The lower floor shelters four bedrooms and two full bathrooms, arranged in such a way that every resting room benefits from beautiful views of the surroundings. Placed among the trees, the volumetric architecture of this beautiful residence was accentuated by the use of red cedar from British Columbia on the upper volume facade and dyed barn wood on the lower one, creating a contrasting look that only enhances the beauty of both the house and the landscape.
