Located in the beautiful Hague, Netherlands, Villa Festen is a wild and fresh combination of traditional elements and contemporary finishes. Designed by BBVH Architects, the fascinating urban residential construction was built to maximize the interiors’ exposure to natural light – large windows and sliding doors make the connection to the outside world. The traditional square shape surrounded by a modern and stylish fence is combined with the contemporary use of building materials. The lower level acts as a visual platform for the upper one, making the residence look like it is floating. The ground floor is occupied by the contemporary collection of spaces. Beautifully furnished, the living room displays a strong connection to the outside – large sliding doors on a glass facade allow owners and visitors to enjoy all the opportunities of residential urban living. Fresh air and natural light freely circulate through the home, making it more enjoyable and inviting.
The dining room and kitchen are also comfortable and stylish, just like the rest of the spaces in this magnificent villa. The first floor is occupied by 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, storage spaces and a lovely terrace, while the upper floor was transformed into a studio with its own private terrace. Dutch surroundings can be enjoyed from up here while enjoying a beverage or a piece of cake.

In Holland they also have floating homes which look like houses afloat which they are. The Dutch have always had the tradition to live afloat usually on old commercial barges, but because of land shortages they are becoming more innovative.
