If like me you are still addicted to downloading new apps, you will be thrilled to hear that you can also find ones that make everyday activities in the home, easier too. This mini showcase of home helping apps will hopefully come in handy for those either wanting to switch off the lights while out or set the TV to record to new Dexter series on Sky.
Schlage Link App
Firstly does it really work? well OK the downside first is that the app will cost you a lot of money. Although it is a free download from itunes, Schlage Link needs to be hooked up to the Z-Wave home automation module to work, which is $12.99 a month and you would need to install a Schlage Link starter kit for $299. So whats good about the app? well if you are not put off by the initial cost you can then set your phone up to control your house lights, door locks, the thermostat and even set any home video cameras running.
TV Plus App
This superb little app allows you remote record your favorite programs on your Sky Plus box at home, even if you are out and about. It also allows you to browse 7 days of listings across 400 channels. Jamie Oliver 20 min meals app
This great little application is for those of use for which following recipes just doesn’t work, the Jamie app promises to help you make perfect meals in 20 Min’s. It does this by a selection of 60 recipes with step by step instructions from Jamie, to help you not only cook these, but shop for the right ingredients. It helps you compile a shopping list, watch a video of Jamie preparing the recipes and have Jamie talk you through the recipe while you are cooking. I have had many friends of mine download this app who commuted from London to Brighton and so needed fast effective ways to cook, and they said this was prefect. Maybe not so good for me as I’m a vegetarian and Jamie is 100% prime beef lover.
Vic Water iPhone app
Saving water in the home is not only great for the environment but for your pockets, water bills can hit at the time of the month when a $350 or £300 bill will push you over the edge. This app not only times your water usage such as time in shower, but gives you handy tips on saving water.
Baristaapp
If your sick of your morning coffee, you might just be making it badly. This app shows you hoe to make all kinds of coffees like a professional Barista, it has videos that talk you through the process and even how to make your coffee a work of art.

Viper SmartStart app
It started as a spoof video but very soon an app that can replace your car keys was made, called the Viper SmartStart the app turned your iphone into a system that can start your car engine, turn on the air conditioning/heating, unlock the doors or the boot or trunk and even manage the car alarm. OK so you need to fit a Viper hardware module in your car, but we think it is worth it.
Imagine it is a cold December morning and your look out to see three inches of snow on your car, do you;
A) leave the house early to scrape the frost and show off the windows
B) Curse and phone in sick
C) use your iphone to turn on the engine and heaters and go back to sleep, safe in the knowledge that all the nasty snow will be gone and the cars cabin will be toasty warm for you.

This app is for those who might have moved into a new area and don’t know where the nearest dog park is, this has a GPS that will help you find a great place to let your pooch run around at its hearts content.
Off Remote app
In case you are very lazy and switching off your computer by hand is too much of a chore, this app is for you. If you have just finished watching a film on your laptop or PC and can’t be bothered to get up and turn i off, or you get an error message in the middle of the film, you can simply restart your computer from your couch, using your iphone.
Home Security with ‘Bang Bang app’
In the same was a Home Alone’s Kevin scared off his would be home invaders with the Angels with Filthy Souls is a fictional gangster film, this app will scare away burglars by mimicking realistic gun sounds.
